Enamel and Metal Koran Amulet Case Box

A nice enameled metal Koran box with its original chain. Handmade and decorated with blue, green and orange enamel. It also has three small pendants. The domed top slides to one side to allow a small Koran to be placed inside. The pendant is then hung on the wearer's belt or dangles from a very long chain worn across one shoulder and under the other arm's pit. This box pendant is thought to carry amuletic properties and to protect its wearer. The enameling is rather crude and some of it has worn off but in general in good vintage condition.

The box measures 6.5 x 5 cm ( 2 1/2 x 2 ") without the dangles and 1.2 cm (1/2") thick. The chain is 32 cm (12 1/2") long. Weight is 84 g.
