This is an unusual piece of Omani jewelry. It is a man's kohl pot and applicator made of excellent silver and connected through a long double handmade silver chain. In Oman, much as the rest of the Arabian Peninsula, women as well as children and men wear kohl in their eyes. Kohl was used not only for beautification purposes, but because it is believed to have medicinal value.

This kohl pot is decorated with hand engraved patterns and the applicator is decorated with geometric patterns that are almost totally worn. The pot top screws in tightly to keep the kohl safely within. Similar kohl pots can be seen in Jehan S Rajab's Silver Jewellery of Oman and also in Ruth Hawley's Omani Silver.

The width of the pot is around 1.2 cm (1/2"). The length is 8 cm (3 1/8"). The applicator is 8.8 cm (3 1/2") long. The chain connecting them is 53 cm (21") long. Weight is 112.4 grams
