The rare anklet, called kalli, is an antique made of silver sheeting shaped with repousse and scrollwork as a double makara or dragon whose scales are decorated on the face, top and bottom. The hollow anklet ends in opposing large mango-shaped bulbs. This type of anklet was worn by Nepali married women until the birth of a first child.
The anklet does have traces of silver, but it is quite low grade..It is still in its original state and needs a good clean. It also has a few spots of verdigris (from the copper in the silver alloy). The seam on one of the mango bulbs is not completely sealed. It is flexible
Inner circumference is 26 cm (10 1/4"). Inner diameter is 9 cm (3 1/2"). Width at bulbs is 3 cm (1 1/4"). Weight is 92 g,
