Antique Silver Pendant with a Hidden Compartment from Afghanistan or India

This beautiful mango shaped antique silver pendant opens up to reveal a small secret vial.  I am not certain what it contained, perfume or opium are some suggestions. The fact that the compartment is so small supports the idea that it had to be something precious.  Its provenance is referred to as Afghanistan by some and India by others. 

The pendant is beautiful and hand engraved all over.  It also has bells hanging from chains on its sides and bottom and they make a lovely jingly sound with movement. It tests positive for high grade silver and is in fine antique condition but for a small dent. 

• The pendant  is 2.5 x 1.5 cm (1  x  just over 1/2").
• The chains add another 4 cm (1 1/2"). 
• The inner compartment has a diameter of 1.5 cm and its lid measures 0.8 x 0.8 cm (3/8 x 3/8").
• It weighs 26.3 grams.
