A central Asian beauty with a lot of age to it. This beautiful Uzbek cuff is made of high-grade silver and dates back to the late 19th century or early 20th century. It is an open cuff with stylized snake head finials. The snake is thought to be a protective symbol and a symbol associated with women's fertility. Also, Anne van Cutsem mentions in her book, A World of Bracelets, that they are worn because it is believed that if a snake sees itself reflected, it will run away. There are examples of just this type of bracelet in A World of Bracelets. It is in fine condition with some scratches commensurate with age and a silky patina.
