Antique Yemeni Bedouin Fertility Amulet Necklace

This beautiful necklace has multiple threads of imitation red coral beads as well as genuine silver-studded black coral beads and zebra trade beads. The necklace also has two handmade mismatched globe beads. The special feature is a huge ornate amulet case or hirz that opens to hold Koranic verses and incantations that will protect the wearer and bring her fertility. The faux coral beads serve the same purpose as the real coral, it is basically to protect the woman from bleeding. The necklace is made of base metal but has fine workmanship on the hirz. It is estimated to be 80 years old. In good vintage condition. Has been restrung.
