Pair of Silver Middle East Open Work Baby Bracelets or Napkin Rings
An intriguing pair of Middle Eastern objects from the 19th Century. They could be baby bracelets and alternatively could be napkin rings. I believe they are more likely to be bracelets because one is slightly bigger than the other.
They are made of silver (tested). The bracelets have a heart shaped front and the body and front appear to incorporate tiny silver coins with Arabic script resembling antique Ottoman akce silver coins. I have not found a matching coin in my search so it could also be that the maker made these coins himself. The bracelets do not appear to be marked to indicate exact origin.
Very small size , the smaller one is 13 cm (5 1/4") inner circumference and 4 cm (1 1/8")Ā across and the larger one is 14.5 (5 3/4") inner circumference and 4.5 cm (1 3/4") across. Face measures 3.7 cm (1 1/8") in width. Weight for both is 25 g.
