Victorian Real Scarab Pin 12K Gold

A late Victorian real scarab pin. The pin itself is 12K gold and the scarab is genuine with a florescent green body. It may have been used as a hat or cravat pin. 

Egyptian Revival jewelry was very popular in Europe ever since Napoleon's excursion into Egypt. Egyptian mania carried on into the Victorian era following archeological discoveries in Egypt that excited European imagination enough to revive Egyptian history through jewelry.
