Vintage Carnelian Heart Bedouin Necklace

A lovely carnelian heart necklace that was worn by Bedouin women. The carnelian stone is amuletic in its own right. It is supposed to protect the wearer from illness. The heart shape is another amulet. It is said to give the wearer happiness of the heart and increase the lover's ardor. The necklace is made of alternating carnelian and handmade metal beads. The necklace closes with a hook and eye mechanism. In good vintage condition.

Length is 51 cm (20"). The pendant measures 1.5 x 2 cm (3/8 x 3/4"). Weight is 56 g.
