Vintage Egyptian Silver Filigree Ethnic Clip On Earrings
Vintage Egyptian Silver Filigree Ethnic Clip On Earrings
Beautiful Silver filigree ethnic clip on earrings from Egypt. It is articulated: the top part with the clip on mechanism is circular and has a blue stone in its middle, while the bottom part is tear shaped with three turquoise glass cabochons.
The earrings are stamped with the assay mark from Cairo, Egypt in three places. There are two 80 assay marks on the side of both the lower and upper parts of the earrings, meaning those parts were made of 80% pure silver. The back of the clip on mechanism however carries the 60 assay mark, meaning this part was made of 60% pure silver, so lower purity. The earring don't have the letter mark that would give us the date these earrings were made, but I estimate them to be from the 1940s. One of the turquoise glass cabochons has a small chip. There is variation in the color of these glass cabochons. One of the sliver drops has a depression.
6 cm (2 1/4") Length and 2.4 cm (15/16") wide. Weight is 10 g.
