Vintage Moroccan Berber Hair Ring with Red Cabochon Size 11

Made of silver-tone metal with a brassy dome, this Moroccan hair ring is locally known as talbatem. This type of hair ring was worn through hair, either high up near the temples or the end of braids. It can easily be worn as a finger ring. The band is decorated with roping and there is a central red cabochon in a raised bezel. It is overall in reasonable vintage condition. The hair ring does not test as silver.

There are similar items in the Quai Branly Museum (74.1971.15.5 and 74.1967.9.10).
