A single silver fibula called “bzim” from the high Atlas in Morocco. Made with the molding technique from silver, the fibula has a trapezoidal base decorated with a border of small etched lines. The pin is attached to the trapezoid and a loop with a movable circular holder is attached to a small bail at the top of the pin. This loop is what keeps the pin in place. The bottom part has radiating stylized jackal paws and claws that act as a talisman against evil. The center of the bottom part is decorated with relief patterns. The fibula is probably Mid 20th Century if not earlier. A similar fibula can be seen in the Quai Branly Museum's collection (74.1999.27.81). It is in good vintage condition but the pin has a slight bend to its end.
