This is a mid-century libba bib necklace from Yemen. Worn in Yemen but also in Saudi Arabia. This necklace is made of three rows of metal beads. The first row is strung on fish wire. From there, the elements are connected with a series of rings. A similar libba necklace is illustrated in Heather Colyer Ross' s book The Art of Bedouin Jewellery. In her book, she astutely remarked that the original design of the libba necklace may have been influenced by the chainmail armor worn by Crusaders.
The necklace is tarnished and has white residue from its previous owner's attempt to polish it. It is also missing a couple of rings. The price reflects these defects.
