Vintage Bedouin Triangle Pendant Yemeni Necklace
Vintage Bedouin Triangle Pendant Yemeni Necklace
A lovely old Yemeni necklace with a triangle pendant in Bedouin style common to both Yemen and Saudi Arabia. The pendant is huge with three bales through which the chain passes. The chain is handmade and meshed and woven together by hand. It really is quite spectacular. Both the pendant and chain are made of mixed metals.
Red glass is used in the necklace because red is supposed to be a protective color for the wearer in Bedouin culture. There are a lot of dangles to this pendant allowing the wearer to make a lovely noise as she passes by.
Pendant is 10 x 9 cm (4 x 3 1/2") and the dangles are an additional 7 cm (3").
Chain is 53 cm (21") long and has an 8 hook type closure. The weight of the necklace is 168 g and it is in good vintage condition with no elements missing.
