Armenian Made Enamel and Diamond Bird Earrings
Armenian Made Enamel and Diamond Bird Earrings
These are gorgeous enamel and pave diamond set bird earrings made by an Armenian artisan called Master Artin who was working as a goldsmith in Istanbul at the turn of the 20th Century.
The Ottoman era birds are made from 6K gold or copper and have a beautiful blue hue of enamel with gold detailing to extenuate the feathers. The head and tail have pave-set diamonds. From the claw of the birds hangs a faceted blue stone echoing the color of the bird. I believe that this was a later addition to add to the elegance of these earrings. The ear wires are latch back and are a replacement. They have more of a rose gold, coppery color.
There is a slight variation in size and color between the two birds but all the diamonds are in place and it is a most charming and well-made pair of earrings to treasure forever.
