Antique Indian Anklet from Gujarat Made of Low Silver Alloy and Turquoise
This is an antique Indian anklet from Gujarat, India from the late 1800s. It is hollow with repousse work on the body. The push in pin clasp is hidden by a dome adorned with turquoise. There is a very similar anklet in the Victoria and Albert Museum collection:
The dome at the front has suffered some depressions, but for its age, it's in good vintage condition. It is made of an alloy with some silver, but low grade (doesn't form the majority of the composition). The turquoises are real.
Inner circumference is 19 cm (7 1/2"). The inner diameter is 6.5 cm (2 1/2"). Width is 2.5 cm (1") at widest (at the dome). Weight is 46 g.
