Antique Late Ottoman Silver Gold Gilt Filigree Chain Bracelet
This is an interesting chain from the Late Ottoman era which has beautiful filigree pendants, individually soldered to the handmade chain. Now the chain is not long enough to be a necklace. I think this may have been part of a larger necklace or part of a head dress decoration, such as the one shown in the picture from (Les Costumes Populaires de la Turquie’- Osman Hamdi Bey, 1873). Some enterprising person added the closure to make it into a wearable bracelet/ anklet. The piece in its entirety is made of silver and has a warm gold gilt.
Length is 19 cm (7 1/2"). Width is 1.8 cm (3/4"). Weight is 14.8 g.
