Antique Silver Ottoman Amulet Necklace with Seal of Solomon
An antique Ottoman amulet necklace from the late 19th century or early 20th century. It is made of silver, both the chain and the amulet holder. This type of necklace was widely worn around the areas under Ottoman influence. The amulet holder in this case is triangular and has hand engraved patterns. On one side is the six pointed star, known in the Islamic world as Solomon's Seal and thought to have protective properties. On the other side is a protective phrase: MashAllah. The top of the triangle slide to the side to allow the wearer to put inside an incantation or verses. The necklace has no closure, but is long enough to slip on.
