Old Yemeni Net Like Head Ornament
A three tier head ornament from Al Bayda, Yemen from the 20th Century known as "khait al ras" literally head string worn by married women. A similar ornament can be seen at the Musée du Quai Branly. It has three hooks, one in the middle and two on either side. The ornament is made from four petaled rosette like elements cut out from metal and linked together with rings and two handmade twisted wire connectors with wire wrapped around them. The last row which would be worn close to the forehead, is a series of 13 domed elements with three dangles each. The head ornament is made of mixed metals which may include silver of low purity. In good vintage condition. There are three dangles missing.
