Vintage Bedouin Ring with Red Glass

This is a classic red glass Bedouin ring from Saudi Arabia or Yemen. It is made of mixed metals and has an oval red glass cabochon set in a plain bezel. This ring is known as a fatakh or fatkha ring and was thought to have protective powers for its wearer. 

The shank is made of four thin wires, connected at intervals. The bezel is worn around the glass cabochon. The glass has quite a few scratches, but it's all part of the age and charm of this lovely Bedouin ring.

• The face measures 1.8 cm (3/4").
• It is size 6 1/2 on my mandrel.
• Weight is 8.4g.
