This striking Bedouin rectangular pendant features a triple-bail design accommodating various chain styles, embellished with intricate appliqué and rope detailing. The hirz is made up of copper and base metal alloys rather than silver. The piece is used to hold incantations or verses of the Koran to protect the wearer. It is however sealed on both sides. The pendant is heavily oxidized and has evidence of wear but otherwise in good vintage condition.
