Vintage Berber Anklet, Algerian Silver Snake Foot Bracelet
This beautiful Berber anklet is Algerian from the Aures region. It is locally called brim meaning wound up because it is made of twisted silver thick wire. The finials are two snake heads which come together with a hook and eye clasp. The snake has a protective function in jewelry. The anklet was made in French colonial times as evidenced by the diamond shaped hallmark near the head of one of the snake finials. There is also a punch mark that is illegible to me. In good vintage condition and tests as good silver.
