Vintage Mother of Pearl Hand Painted Link Bracelet from the Middle East from the 1940's. It has 9 individual mother of pearl panels, all rectangular in shape. The different panels are connected together through wiring that has been drilled right through them. The painting was done in the lacquer style handed down from the Safavid and Qajar periods in Persia. Each panel is a miniature painting drawn under a magnifying glass using one or two brush hairs on mother of pearl panels. Each panel depicts a different theme. Three are of people with. one with a narghila beside him (hookah), another with a musical instrument and a drink carafe, while one portrays a woman dancing. The other panels depict birds, plants, and deer.

The bracelet closes with a sliding clasp that locks into place. The push in box clasp is not original. It has been replaced (probably recently) along the way. It is however in perfect working order.

Length 17.5 cm (7 ") Width at widest: 2.2 cm (close to 1")

The bracelet could do with a good cleaning. It also has some loss of paint in a few places, but no chipping that I can see. This type of bracelet is becoming harder to find and is highly collectible. Make it your own and let it become part of your family's heirloom.
