Vintage Silver Omani Hirz Amulet Holder Necklace

A Koran box or hirz most likely from North Oman from the second half of the twentieth century. The rectangular amulet holder is worked in silver with applique gold squares and a central repousse piece. The amulet holder usually has Koranic verses or incantations to protect the wearer. This amulet holder appears to be welded shut. All the elements of this necklace test as high-grade silver. It is in good shape.
