Vintage Silver Tower Ring from Oman used in the Zar Healing Ceremony
This is a rare zar ring that was worn throughout Oman. It was especially used for the zar ceremony, gifted or worn at the conclusion of the ceremony, but it was also used for daily wear to protect the wearer.
This ring, made from silver has a raised dome on a square base and quite a wide shank decorated with roping. The top of the square is decorated with silver drops while the borders of the square is perforated and decorated with roping. The ring is in good condition but missing one silver drop from the top and is a bit out of round.
The face measures 3 x 3 cm (1 1/4 x 1 1/4"). It is 2 cm (3/4") high and weighs 19.7 grams. The ring measures 7 1/2 on my mandrel at its middle.
