This is a lovely and substantial silver belt from the 1950s that was worn by Bedouin women from the Arabian Peninsula on special occasions, such as weddings where dancing rhythmically will make the belt produce its own music. The belt is made of interconnected cast semi tube pieces that echo those used in Ottoman belts. The central closure panel has a sun burst design and conceals the push pin mechanism. The belt has silver dome pendants form which hang small dangles. These will make a nice sound with movement. The belt is in good vintage condition but some dome pendant are missing. All the elements test as silver and have a gold gilt applied..
