Vintage Small Tunisian Silver Hoop Earrings with Crescent and Star
Vintage Small Tunisian Silver Hoop Earrings with Crescent and Star
This is a beautiful and well worn pair of vintage Berber earrings worn by Tunisian women. They were made in the mid-twentieth century and were worn through the earholes, The two are not an exact pair but they are close enough in composition that they can be worn as a pair. If you intend to wear them, please understand that the ends are thick and need a bigger earlobe hole than is standard.
The earrings are hoops with saw-teeth decorating the bottom part of the hoop. The main part of the earring has cut silver to show a crescent moon and star.
The earrings test as silver and have punch marks that I could not decipher. They are in reasonable vintage condition. The earring on the left has a damaged end and is a lot more worn than the one on the right.
- The diameter of the hoop is 3.5 cm or 1 3/8".
- The thickness is 4 mm for the earring that has the thicker end.
- Weight is 8 g.
