A lovely early 20th-century Ottoman hirz—an amulet holder designed to cradle Koranic verses or protective incantations close to the wearer's body. Crafted in base metal, this soulful piece is typical of rural Ottoman jewelry. It features hand-worked repoussé detailing and three bails at the crown, with a distinctive double-chain dangle adorned with small hand-motif discs at its base. One side of the chamber opens while the other remains sealed. The iron chain has been added to the pendant is rusted and is not original.
