These rare anklets called kalli, are  made of metal sheeting shaped with repousse and scrollwork as a double makara or dragon whose scales are decorated on the face, top and bottom. The anklets are hollow but quite rigid and not adjustable. They end in opposing large mango-shaped bulbs. This type of anklet was worn by Nepali married women until the birth of a first child.
