Vintage Shahid Gold Leaf over Silver Omani Ring

This is a classic Omani silver ring called shahid ring worn by Omani women on their index fingers. It is from the second half of the twentieth century.

Omani women had a set of 10 rings, one for each finger. Each finger had a specialized shaped ring for that finger. Like most Omani jewelry, this ring is made of high-grade silver but this one is also covered with a sheet of gold that has embossed patterns.  The ring is lighter than the usual Omani rings and a little crude, but quite nice on. 

• The face measures 3.4 cm in length ( 1 3/8") 
• 1.6 cm (5/8") at the widest.
• The ring is size 8.
• Weight is 4.5 g.
