Lovely handmade silver Indian tribal earrings, known as vedhla, from Gujrat, worn by Kutch women on the top part of the ear lobe.
A faceted pink glass cabochon in a raised bezel forms the top part. The long ear wires are soldered to them on one end. The other end continues downward to end with a small soldered-on pendant. The stem is wrapped with silver wire.
Unmarked but tested positive for high-grade silver. The ear wires are a larger gauge than the ones used in modern times. The earrings are in good vintage condition. There are similar examples in the V&A Museum's collection.
- Length is 5.5 cm (2 1/4").
- The discs are 1.5 cm (just over 1/2") across.
- Weight is 10.4 g.
