A very pretty and hefty hoop Bedouin earring, a single one unfortunately that has lost its pair. It was worn by Bedouin women in the northern part of Yemen (Saada region) as well as in Saudi Arabia. A pair of earrings in the British Museum's collection (As1975,03.37.a-b) was collected in Hijaz, Saudi Arabia.

Though its wire is quite thick, it was worn through the ear hole. The earring is made of silver (tested) and decorated with silver drops on the outer border and with applique diamond-shaped elements. In good vintage condition.

Hoop measures around 6.5 cm (2 1/2"). It weighs 35.7 grams.
