This is a striking necklace featuring a square amuletic pendant. It is mid-century worn by the Bedouin women of Saudi Arabia and Yemen. The pendant is square in shape with a long opening and three red beads, one glass central bead, and two resin beads. The pendant ends in 7 bell dangles and the pendant hangs from a handmade chain. The red color has a protective function in Bedouin jewelry, as does the number 7.
The pendant measures 7.2 x 7.2 cm (2 7/8 x 2 7/8") with an extra 4 cm (1 1/2") for the dangles. The chain is 59 cm (23"). Weight is 112 g.
